Fellow F-1 Lions,
Summer of 2009 is almost here,
drawing to a close the 2008-09 Lions year.
The clubs of F-1 still have much work to do...
a rest stop, a poker run--to name just a few.
Promoting our clubs means wearing Lions' best,
but, alas, what a shame to dirty ones vest!
What else could be worn to show off our pride
and be easy to clean, with just a wash and a dry?
The Ellensburg Lions have answered this call,
with Zone Pride T-shirts sized to fit all.
The tees are navy blue and only 15 dollars,
please, if you'd like one, give E-burg Lions a holler.
Updates on meetings, activities, and related information for the Ellensburg, WA, Lions Club.

Hearing Aid Application—Lion Sarah Storrs
• Kiwanis will pay up to $125. Estimated cost to club is $135. (Total cost estimated to be $400-600, half of which NLF pays. Patient to pay $40 co-payment. Worst case scenario, $260 would be due from the club; counting the Kiwanis support would be $135) Moved, seconded, and passed to approve hearing aid assistance based on costs posed above.
Please read the Blog (www.ellensburglions.blogspot.com) for summary of the District F Conference.

• Will be held at 4/14/09 meeting (paperwork due at multiple district office 4/30/09)
• Term begins 7/1/2009-6/30/2010
• Nominations –Here is a list of current officers that have volunteered to be nominated for another term:

New Eye Exam/Glasses Applications —Lion Sarah Storrs
• Funding for further exams/glasses will not be available until after Indian John Hill fundraiser.
• I would like to suggest a motion be made on how to handle this:
o Notifying screening sources in writing date we anticipate funding will next be available (estimate 7/6/2009)
o For any applications received in the interim, secretary will notify the applicant as soon as application received that funding is currently not available, but we will go ahead and review application.
o If approved, patient will be put on a waiting list—we will send out approval letter as soon as funds are available.
o If not approved, will send out decline letter immediately.
• Moved, seconded, and passed to accept recommendations posed above as recommended by Sarah.
Ellensburg Ed Foundation Table Sponsorship. After brief discussion, the club decided not to provide a $100 table sponsorship for the Foundations “Foundation of Fitness” fundraiser on April 24th. This decision was based on the clubs current financial situation.
International President’s Commendation Awarded. David Heath reported that our own President Sarah received the referenced award at the recent Lions conference. This is quite the honor since few received it and is one of the top four awards presented by Lions International. Obviously, well deserved. Congratulations Sarah!
Guest Speaker: Jim Briggs presented, in lieu of Jenny Carkner, the KC Chapter American Red Cross program. Jim, a former Ellensburg Lions Club member, expressed interest in joining (again) based on the club providing programs at its second meeting each month. He was given a membership application. Need to follow up.
Adjourn.
